The baby boomers came into being the largest voting demographic in the early 1980s, a period which ushered in a long running trend of rapidly increasing income inequality. From 1979-2007, those receiving the highest 1 percentile of incomes saw their already large incomes increase by 278% while those in the middle at the 40th-60th percentiles saw a 35% increase. Since 1980, after the vast majority of Baby Boomer college goers graduated, the cost of college has been increased by over 600% (inflation adjusted)
lyrics
I got my degree before desegregation
flooded the schools with the people i hate
tuned in and dropped out, worked 20 hours
4000 dollars was all that i paid
soon got a house, started shitting out kids
got a white collar job that would pay all the billds
as the world changed around me, i stayed the same
a small minded bigot that will make my kids ashamed
a generation focused on success
bled the world and ensured there's nothing left
abandoned reason in 1969
denied you yours, so that i could get whats mine
took a growing economy into your hands
voted it down with the strike of a pen
ran to the right just as fast as you could
and on that sham you stood
capitalism worship ran rampant
deregulation our motto and creed
fuck any law that would get in our way
that would stifle creative investing
ship all my assets in the caymens
safe from american enomony
hobble the worth of a popular vote
as i cede all the power to corporate lobbies
a generation focused on success
bled the world and ensured there's nothing left
abandoned reason in 1969
denied you yours, so that i could get whats mine
mock the new generations. scraping together a future of none
fucking snowflakes are lazy, working 4 jobs when I only had one
strip the schools of their assets, scream from the stands "leave no child behind"
as we pick up the pieces, broken and fragmented, like your aging minds
